GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMPS & WATER SOURCE HEAT PUMPS

The sun heats the earth, with the ground absorbing and storing energy. You can make use of the natural energy stored in the ground using a heat pump. A Ground Source unit or a Water Source unit is placed within the home. The Ground Source unit uses ground loops or Geothermal Drilling wells under a garden or home, whilst the Water Source Heat Pump uses a water supply nearby, this could be in the form of a river, lake or a borehole. A water source is the most efficient form of heat pump as the liquid passing through the system isn’t re-circulated; instead it pulls directly from the source, unfortunately, regulatory burden makes it difficult to get permission for the installation.

CONSTANT ENERGY SOURCE

Ground Source Heat Pumps are fairly stable as the temperature remains relatively consistent in the ground and does not vary greatly between summer and winter. This means that a household can benefit from generating their own sustainable energy from the grounds of their property in a stable and predictable manor.
