Ground Source Heat Pumps

Geothermal drilling systems make up an exciting and environmentally friendly way to both heat and cool buildings.

Whether commercial or domestic, by using the ground’s natural heat capacity and relatively constant temperature significant cost and environmental savings can be made.

In summer, excess heat can be returned into the ground, and in winter, the warmer ground can be used to provide base-level heating. Boreholes can be drilled to various depths dependent on the ground conditions.

GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMPS & WATER SOURCE HEAT PUMPS

The sun heats the earth, with the ground absorbing and storing energy. The ground is an optimum source of heating. You can make use of the natural energy stored in the ground using a heat pump. Unlike an Air Source unit, the Heat Pump whether it is a Ground Source unit, or a Water Source unit is placed within the home. The Ground Source unit uses ground loops or Geothermal Drilled wells under a garden or home, whilst the Water Source Heat Pump uses a water supply nearby, this could be in the form of a river, lake, or a borehole.

CONSTANT ENERGY SOURCE

Ground Source Heat Pumps are stable as the temperature remains relatively consistent in the ground and does not vary greatly between summer and winter. This means that a household can benefit from generating their own sustainable energy from the grounds of their property in a stable and predictable manor.

PLENTY OF HOT WATER

Modern Ground source heat pumps are capable of supplying plenty of hot water at temperatures up to 60°C for all your sanitary needs thereby supplying water at similar temperatures to a conventional central heating system.
